G. Bryant’s Living Room and Dining Room
Working with George has been a lot of fun! If you recall from this basement Re:Do, he was in need of a helping hand getting a grip on the clutter and mess in his home. We started with the basement, then went on to organize, clean, and redecorate his living room and dining room. This was made possible by his willingness to sell some things to make money to pay for the new decor. Check out the results below!
The Living Room entry; a big stacked shelving unit filled with tchotchkes and stuff! The gray walls were dull and cold; not a very inviting place to start!
Now a warm ‘khaki’ backdrop to showcase George's ‘classic movie monsters’ artwork. We added secondary lighting, mail sorting bins, and an entry console as well.
DESK! BIG DESK in the corner, used only for putting
stuff on... and white Christmas trees... though the desk is a family heirloom, it doesn’t fit well in this space.
Now it’s a comfortable reading area, with a leather club chair, shelf, and secondary lighting. We continued the use of the ‘classic movie monster’ are throughout the room.
A beautiful fireplace camouflaged against a dull gray wall & uninteresting art. This project began after Christmas, so there are still holiday decoration remants around.
Here the fireplace stands out, getting the attention it deserves. The warm and masculine color tones and furnishing compliment the room’s comfort.
I’m still not sure why George bought the furniture he did.
I don’t think he knows either. However, he was willing to sell it all to redecorate; and we did!
The Dining Room is now a cheery chartreuse green, which helps since there is little light that comes in the window. The turquoise and white keep the space feeling fresh!
This wall was a hodgepodge of strange and unrelated ‘art’; the large avocado green credenza seemed to dominate the space, and overwhelm the wall.
The wall is now a gallery of George's smaller collection of ‘classic movie monsters’ art, arranged in a way where he can change the line up if he gets new peices.
Here’s a matching corner curio cabinet... like the large armoire, it just didn’t seem to fit the look of the house. Plus, it was just a dust collector for clutter and junk.
The room is now clean and clear of the clutter; the new color scheme is bright, fresh & exciting, and helps create a lively and fun feeling for the small space!
